Disneyland announced that it will reopen its doors on April 30 with limited capacity, after more than a year closed by the coronavirus, a measure adopted thanks to the favorable evolution of the pandemic in southern California (USA) in recent weeks .

Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park will return to activity on April 30, while Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, which is also part of the Disneyland Resort entertainment complex, will open the day earlier.

“The day we were all waiting for is almost here,” Ken Potrock, president of the Disneyland Resort, said in a statement.
“We are delighted that more than 10,000 employees are returning to work to welcome all visitors to this happy place,” he added.

The CEO of Disney, Bob Chapek, assured CNBC that they have perceived “the enthusiasm, the desire of people to return” to Disney parks “around the world.”

“Walt Disney World (in Florida) has been running for nine months, and there really is no shortage of demand. Consumers trust Disney to do the right thing, and we’ve really shown that we can (open) responsibly, whether with temperature tests, masks, social distancing or improving hygiene in parks, “he pointed out.

Those responsible for Disneyland, one of the most important tourist attractions in California, stressed that security measures and protocols against the coronavirus will be strengthened to guarantee the well-being of visitors.

“Because the park’s capacity will be significantly limited to meet government requirements and to promote social distancing, Disneyland Resort will manage visitor attendance through a new reservation system that will require obtaining a reservation to enter the park with advance, “they explained.

In the case of the hotels within the complex, Disneyland explained that they will be reopened following a progressive plan.

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will admit guests beginning April 29, while Disney Vacation Club Villas will not open until May 2.

On the other hand, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and Disneyland Hotel will return to activity later on a date still to be specified.
